I am a cultural sociologist who studies social movements and media using qualitative methods. I am primarily interested in online movements that are motivated by distrust of large-scale institutions. My current research focuses on the development of radical discourses, such as conspiracy theories, in online resistance movements that mobilize institutional distrust in their recruitment processes. I am passionate about identifying areas in which sociological research can inform a broader understanding of the formation of institutional distrust and the construction of alternative knowledge communities.
My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, such as The Sociological Quarterly and Global Public Health. I also co-authored a white paper for the Center for Artistic Activism.
